Thanksgiving

I really enjoyed reading everyone's responses to my last post.  They truly show the uniqueness of each person and the ways God touches our hearts.

So...another question for Thanksgiving week.  (Plus an optional bonus question.)

What's something God has done in your life recently that you are thankful for? And (optional question) what do you think He wants us to know about being thankful?  (I'm giving a message on thankfulness, so your responses might just be shared with others!)

I'm thankful for friends who can confront you in love. Not always thankful at first, but in the end I am.

I'm also thankful for snow at Christmas, something I never thought about until I don't have it! :)

Just saturday morning.. early like 5 am I was extremely ill with the flu ,as I prayed  all flu symptoms went away completely and I was able to work. Saturdays are quite busy in the cake buisiness,it is my heaviest day so being well is important. I was so thankful to be well and back to normal when earlier I was going to go home.God answered my prayer as small as it was and it meant that I could make alot of people happy with their special day.It shows me God hears all my prayers and He answers them and as insignificant as I am in such a big worldI am important enough to Him to make me better and my happiness restored. Makes me feel special and knowing my faith and trust is in Him alone. So, I am very Thankful to be well ,to have health, to be a witness to others for they too saw it at work and saw the difference of what prayer can do.I know being Thankful to Him for He provides all good things to those who love Him and knowing that God uses me in everyday life for His purpose is a blessing beyound all words.I think He would want me to be thankful for each and every day that I have from Him for they are gifts from above and are guided by His every hand and to utilize what I have to the utmost for Him.Living each day in thankfulness and praise for all He has done as if it were my last.Psalm 100:4 Enter into His gates with Thanksgiving, and into His courts with Praise:be thankful unto Him and bless His name.I beleive this is how He wishes us to come to Him

Good questions....I am thankful for a break and to get to go home for a little while.... I think that we are supposed to be thankful because we are not deserving of what he gives us and doesn't give us what we do deserve.

Mr. G, when I read the inquiry of your post, the first thing that popped into my head was that I am thankful for freedom, more specifically the freedom to choose- freewill.  Sure, I can choose if I want to sleep in or not, what clothes I want to wear, what I want to eat, etc., but the choices I am talking about are much deeper.  On a daily basis we get to choose to follow Christ, choose how we respond to controversy, choose our outlook on life and how we will live it, choose our attitude, etc.  Sure, freewill is what got us into sin in the first place (thanks Adam and Eve, we love you too!), but what a gift from God!  Could you imagine living a life where everything was predetermined for you?  And sure enough I went to church today and my pastor taught on how our thanksgiving (and praise) is what brings freedom.  Freedom and thanksgiving are reciprocal!  Our thanksgiving and praise is what brings freedom- Paul and Silas were locked up in prison and their praise and thanksgiving is what them brought the out of a physical prison.  If we can learn to praise God and be thankful for everything we go through (good and bad) then he can free us emotionally too.  Check out Phil 4:6-7.  Anxiety is the opposite of peace and anxiety is caused by a lack of trust in God.  Notice that Paul and Silas had to give thanks and praise before their prison fell, not after.  Likewise, they had reason to be thankful because they were free.  As Chsitians we have the choice to be thankful in all things which in turn sets us free and gives us even more reason to be thankful or we can choose to not be thankful and live anxious lives that are void of the freedom that God has intended for us all along.  Seems like an easy choice, sometimes a little harder to live it though!

Hope you a wonderful Thanksgiving!
